Care in Focus: Royal Oldham Hospital Patient Experience

Healthwatch Oldham has completed three engagement events at Royal Oldham Hospital (ROH) to engage patients, staff, and visitors with our survey to better understand people’s experiences of ROH.

We engaged 63 people; 6 of whom were inpatients, 34 were outpatients, 10 were staff members, and 13 were visitors. The survey results demonstrate both the positive experiences patients have had and their issues with Royal Oldham Hospital. This includes the treatment and care provided, their experiences compared to other hospitals, and the cleanliness/hospitality of Royal Oldham Hospital.

Our key findings included:

  • Excellent care and compassionate staff
  • Long waiting times
  • Parking difficulties
  • Newer areas are brighter, welcoming, modern and clean
  • Older parts of the hospital are tired, outdated, or poorly maintained
  • Uninviting entrances
