An update from Healthwatch Oldham

Following on from our last post regarding the Government’s decision to transfer Healthwatch England’s statutory function to the Department of Health and Social Care whilst the local Healthwatch statutory function will transfer to the Integrated Care Board and the Local Authority.

We wanted to post again to reassure Oldham residents that we are still active until legislation changes, which we will we provide an update on in advance. In the meantime, we are still a busy and dedicated (albeit small!) team. If you have feedback regarding an NHS or social care service, or would like information and signposting, please contact us on 0161-622 5700 or info@healthwatcholdham.co.uk – Tuesday to Thursday or you can leave a voice message or email out of hours.

Over the past three months, we have been out and about at various engagement events, listening to residents across Oldham, offering and ensuring that everyone knows where to get support, and helping to break down barriers for people accessing healthcare. We are here to hear your voice, because ‘everyone’s voice matters’, whether that’s feedback about care you or a family member has received (good or bad!), needs you have that you don’t feel are being met, or signposting to support or community groups that you need.

Community engagement isn’t just about talking—it’s about making a real difference. By hearing your feedback, we can help to close the gaps between services and the people who need them most, endeavouring to make health and social care service more accessible for everyone.
