Healthwatch Oldham is looking to recruit new Board Members

Healthwatch Oldham is the local independent champion for people who use health and social care services. Our sole purpose is to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people who use health and social care services. We use this feedback to shape the way services are designed and delivered in Oldham; ensuring that those running services put people at the centre of care.
Our main statutory functions as a local Healthwatch are:
- To obtain the views of people about their needs and experience of local health and social care services
- To make reports and recommendations about how those services could or should be improved
- To promote and support the involvement of people in the monitoring, commissioning and provision of local health and social care services
- To provide information and advice to the public about accessing these services and the options available.
Our main aim is to improve the experiences of residents, patients, families and carers using services now and in the future. The services we cover include GP practices, dentists, hospital-based services, pharmacies and social care services including care homes and help to live at home.
We are looking to appoint additional board members, preferably with management/leadership experience in one of the following areas:
- Adult social care services
- Children and/or young people’s services
- Domiciliary care or residential home services
- Mental health services
We are specifically interested in hearing from people that represent communities, groups and people from diverse backgrounds and/or who may have any of the protected characteristics identified within the Equalities Act 2010.
If you are interested in joining the Healthwatch team but not sure that you fit with any of the above areas, please contact Anna Howarth the Healthwatch Oldham Manager to organise an informal chat on anna.howarth@healthwatch.org.uk
